Inject a Dose of Daring Into Your Wardrobe With Our Medical Themed Jewellery

8th Sin are pleased to announce a long overdue restock of our Silver Heartbeat Bracelet and were inspired to write a blog post talking about our other medical themed jewellery pieces and the inspiration behind them! These bracelets always sell well as soon as we have them in stock, and are great gifts for nurses, doctors and anyone in the medical field! We have had customers purchase them as thank you gifts for cardiologists and as graduation presents for nurses among other celebrations, which we think is just the sweetest!
Our medical themed jewellery pieces are some of our longest standard and bestselling items, designed near the beginning of 8th Sin's conception. 8th Sin's owner, Laura, was inspired by Japanese fashion styles Dolly Kei and Cult Party Kei, the bold subculture of Cybergoth and antique medical imagery such as apothecaries and medical tools.

Cult Party Kei and Dolly Kei were Japanese street fashion styles that have now mostly died out or evolved into other styles but had iconic brands and thrift stores in Tokyo such as Virgin Mary (the original store was called Cult Party, hence the name of the fashion sticking as Cult Party Kei), Grimoire and Dangerous Nude. The fashions were inspired by vintage and antique fashion, dolls, fairy tales, antique European fashion and culture among other things, hence the love of vintage and antique accessories that blur the line of creepy and nostalgic.
Here are two great sources about Dolly Kei and Cult Party Kei that explain the fashions, inspirations and motifs!
But back to 8th Sin...8th Sin has many inspirations that may not at first be clear, which is why we love blog posts like this that can delve a little deeper into our inspirations and history.
One of our first vintage and medical themed lines was our Evil Eye Bracelets, which we wanted to create to be better quality and longer lasting than cheap dropshipped jewellery. We also pride ourselves on making our costume jewellery to our customer's measurements, as again, cheap fast fashion jewellery is usually made in "one size fits all" measurements which, of course, is usually too small or too big! How many times have you bought clothing from places like AliExpress, Wish and Shein and it has not looked like the product photos, been too small/big and fallen apart after a couple of wears?!
After we created our Evil Eye Bracelets, our customers requested that we make choker necklaces in the same design, which we loved! Not many other places make evil eye necklaces and we loved the creepy look of eyes adorning one's neck, gazing out into the world! We have just expanded our Evil Eye colour range to include this super cute, eyecatching pink iris colour, which is now available as an option on our product listings.
Our Tears of Persephone Earrings is one of our newest additions to our eye range, featuring delicate glass teardrop beads to resemble tears. They come in a range of iris colours including blue, brown and green. The name is inspired by the Greek goddess Persephone, tricked by Hades to spend six months a year in the Underworld as his Queen.
We quickly expanded into an entire eyeball themed jewellery line, including rings with a gorgeously ornate ring band that is fully adjustable at the back, hair slides, and both stud and dangle earrings! Each design is available in silver or bronze plated metal, with a choice of iris colour, including bright blue, swirly turquoise blue, dark blue/greyish and brown!
Another old but gold jewellery piece that has always been popular is our Silver Teeth Earrings, which have over 350 glowing reviews on our Etsy and webstore! Not only are these popular with alternative fashion styles, but many of our customers purchase them as gifts for dentistry students, friends and partners in dentistry! Whether it's a dentist school graduation gift, birthday or Christmas present, they have always gone down a treat with those in the industry.
